The first budget presented in the Lok Sabha during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's third term is inclusive, developmental, and aimed at fulfilling the aspirations and hopes of 1.4 billion citizens during the Amrit Kaal of independence. This budget, presented by Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, will help transform India into a $5 trillion economy. Additionally, budgetary provisions for job creation for millions of youth and new tax rates will provide relief to middle-class families. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has described this budget as an economic blueprint for building a self-reliant and developed India. He stated that the budget would significantly aid the development of the entire country and Uttar Pradesh. He noted that the Modi 3.0 government crafted the general budget with the sacred spirit of Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person), which will substantially improve the development and lifestyle of individuals at the lowest rung of society. Advancing Women's Empowerment The 2024-25 Union Budget focuses extensively on improving women's living standards and making them self-reliant. The budget has approved over ₹3 lakh crore for new and existing schemes for women. Women in Uttar Pradesh will benefit the most from these schemes. The government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is already implementing numerous schemes for women's empowerment and economic advancement in the state. With over ₹3 lakh crore allocated for women in the national budget, the state's schemes will not face financial challenges. Government Prioritizes Women’s Welfare Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has once again emphasized the welfare of farmers and the efforts to double their income in the 2024-25 Union Budget. The government has proposed a budget of ₹1.52 lakh crore for agriculture and allied sectors. Approximately 1.5 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh will benefit from this. Uttar Pradesh, an agricultural state with the country's highest number of sugarcane and paddy farmers, will gain from allocating ₹1.5 lakh crore for farmers. The government has made a provision of ₹1.2 lakh crore for farming, with plans to create clusters to increase vegetable production and make the country self-reliant in pulses. Uttar Pradesh is already implementing these schemes. The budget's schemes will soon make Uttar Pradesh self-reliant in pulses and oilseeds and even enable it to export to other states. Employment Opportunities for Youth With a population of 24 crores, Uttar Pradesh has a youth population of around eight crores. Like in other states, securing a government job is a dream for the youth here. While not all youths can get government jobs, it can provide employment opportunities based on their education and skills. The Finance Minister has focused on this critical issue in the budget. One of the most special schemes in this budget is the plan to provide skill training to one crore youth annually in the country's top 500 companies. During the training period, the youth will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month. This will also provide industries with skilled workers as per their requirements. A separate goal is to provide skill development education to 20 lakh youth. In line with Prime Minister Modi's vision, this will help create entrepreneurs in every household. Uttar Pradesh, which has the largest youth population, will benefit the most from this scheme. Tax Relief for the Middle Class with Changes in Income Tax Slabs According to the budget provisions, taxpayers will not have to pay any tax on income up to ₹3 lakh. There is a provision for a 10% tax on income between ₹7 lakh and ₹10 lakh. According to the Finance Minister, the new announcements will benefit four crore people under the new tax regime by up to ₹17,500. The demand for tax relief for the middle class has been long-standing. The new slabs will benefit four crore people by up to ₹17,500. Conclusion The Modi 3.0 budget outlines a comprehensive plan to foster economic growth, inclusivity, and self-reliance in India. By focusing on job creation, tax relief, and substantial investments in women’s empowerment, agriculture, and youth skills development, the budget aims to uplift various sectors and improve the quality of life for millions. With a clear commitment to advancing these priorities, the budget is set to play a crucial role in steering India towards becoming a $5 trillion economy while ensuring substantial progress and development for its citizens.
